MOTORISTS coming into the county face an evening of misery after a four vehicle smash closed the Dartford Tunnel.

The collision happened shortly after 4.30pm in the eastern tunnel, which has been closed. The western bore remains open.

Long delays are expected on the approach to the crossing.

Delays are also being reported clockwise on approach to the QEII Bridge due to traffic congestion.

Yep they were. We were caught up in this on the way back from Gatwick, left the airport at 3pm walked in the door in Rayleigh at 8pm.:-(

Did I dream it or are the powers that be at the crossing supposed to forego the tolls when the tailbacks get in excess of 3 miles? Sheer greed!
