Pop star Scott and wife donate to St Luke's Hospice
POP star Scott Robinson and his wife dropped in to a hospice to donate their winnings from a TV gameshow.
Scott, who found fame with boyband 5ive, and wife, Kerry, went to St Luke’s Hospice, in Basildon, after winning money on ITV’s All Star Mr and Mrs.
The couple, from Pitsea, wanted to donate the money to the hospice in Nethermayne, as it looked after Kerry’s nan, Vera Mugrove, in her final days.
Scott and Kerry, who are parents to 18-week-old twin girls, Bobbi-Rayne and Kaydi- Rose, and sons, Brennan, 12 and Kavan, seven, donated a four-figure sum.
Scott said: “Having agreed to take part in the TV show we were asked to nominate a charity.
“It was primarily Kerry’s idea we should support St Luke’s, as in 1995 her nan was admitted into the hospice and spent her final days there.”
Kerry said: “Although I was only 12, I remember visiting her there and that is the last memory I have of her.
“I also remember my nan going to the hospice before she was admitted for day stays, where she would meet other people and take part in the craft activities set up by St Luke’s. Nan loved these days and the staff were all so lovely. I still have something she made on one of those days.
“I still miss my nan every day, but knowing her last days were made as comfortable as possible brings me some comfort.
“I can’t praise the hospice enough for the care and support they gave to my nan.”
The family are yet to announce exactly how much they won for the hospice, leaving viewers to find out when All Star Mr and Mrs airs later this month.
Marilyn Debattista, head of revenue development at St Luke’s, said: “It’s a wonderful surprise for us to have been chosen by Scott and Kerry.
“We are so grateful to them both for helping us in this way and we are honoured the support given to Kerry’s nan has been remembered after all these years.”
