RESIDENTS hope to win the fight to get new windows put in their sheltered housing complex.

People living at Bell House, in Great Wakering, want old windows replaced as they say they are decaying.

Sanctuary Housing’s plan to replace them was rejected by Rochford District Council last week.

But the issue will be voted on again at tomorrow’s planning meeting.

The windows were rejected because the 40-flat property in High Street is next to a conservation area.

Bell House resident Joan Stevenson, 69, said: “Some of those living here are really ill and need security and warmth.

“You can have brown UPVC windows and white indoors, that’d match the current look outside and brighten our flats.

“UPVC windows last forever, are warm and secure. Metal or wooden frames are not warm.”

It is hoped councillors will overturn the decision to refuse permission, which was made by council officers.
