A MAN has been charged with five offences after a van was stolen in Billericay and driven for nearly 50 miles the wrong way along the M11 and A14.

Officers were called at about 1.40am on Wednesday, May 21 after a white Transit van was taken from an address in Stock Road.

The vehicle was driven to Harlow where it joined the M11, travelling north on the southbound carriageway. The van was stopped at Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire.

Ryan Nee, 19 of Harebell Way, Romford was charged with burglary and theft at Billericay on May 21, taking a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

He was remanded in police custody to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court this morning, Thursday May 22.
