POLICE want to unite a stolen electronic tablet with its owner.

The device was recovered from the garden of a house in Hathaway Road, Grays, on Friday, April 4.

A 20 year-old man, from Grays, was arrested on suspicion of theft after officers found him hiding in the garden.

He has been released on police bail until Wednesday, May 7.

Anyone who recognises the tablet or has any other information about the theft should call PC Rory Phillips at Grays Police Station on 101.

If they turned it on, surprising they haven't done that, they could have checked the serial number against the purchaser or found information to make a link with the owner ... e-mail addresses etc.

Can't expect too much from the police but given this tablet looks just like a million others, why bother showing a picture ... and yes it looks just like my own?

I bet the answer to who owns it can be found by pressing the 'on' button?

I think they HAVE switched it on and have found something incriminating on there so want to lure the owner to the waiting device.. and cuffs.
It's not usual for the police to publicly appeal for owners of stolen items they retrieve... Something else is going on here.
