PASSENGERS will be able to fly off to some of northern Europe’s hidden gems after Flybe announced its new destinations from Southend Airport.

The routes have been chosen as they are not served by other airports like London City and are popular destinations, just off the beaten track.

Southend Airport owner Stobart Air announced the ten-year partnership with Flybe last week in which it hopes to create 60 new jobs, with recruitment already underway.

Detailing the six new routes, Simon Fagan, chief operating officer of Stobart Air, said: “We are delighted to announce these six new London Southend routes.

“Each of these new routes will resonate with both business and leisure passengers. Prices are competitive, schedules are convenient, and the airports are efficient.

“For the 20 million people living within two hours of London Southend Airport, it presents popular new destinations. The availability of daily return services on some of the routes means people can do a day’s business and be back home that evening.”

Details of the routes plus more reaction and information in a two-page news special is in today's Echo
