A MAN has died after collapsing in a town centre.

Three police officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the man in his 80s who suffered suspected cardiac arrest on Billericay High Street.

Hertfordshire Air Ambulance was called to Billericay after the incident at about 3.30pm today.

Officers performed CPR for five minutes until paramedics arrived at the scene.

Police closed nearby Sun Street for the air ambulance to land but it was not needed and the road was soon re-opened.
