Plans showing where thousands of homes will be built in Rochford are being shown at venues across the district.

The recently adopted Allocations Document sets out details of the sites to be developed across the district over the next fifteen years for housing, employment and other uses.

The council is holding a series of public exhibitions in March to explain the proposals. The exhibitions start on 3 March at the following venues:

  • 3 March – 7 March, The Mill Arts and Events Centre
  • 4 March – 7 March, Rayleigh Library
  • 3 March – 7 March, Hockley, Hullbridge, Rochford and Great Wakering library

The final draft of the Allocations Plan was approved at a Full Council meeting on Tuesday evening, [Feb 25] along with the Hockley Area Action Plan.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio holder for Planning, Transport and Heritage, Councillor Keith Hudson said: “The Local Development Framework is now in place and the uncertainty that has blighted the lives of our residents is at an end.

“It is now imperative that all Councillors work together to ensure the best possible developments, Residential, Business and Leisure, are provided to enhance our District and not to detract from it.

“For every development, the local residents will be consulted and encouraged to help with the design and to ensure that it respects the local flavour of our towns and villages.”
