Michael Howe, 23, of Wimbish End, Pitsea, was found guilty of theft after filling up his car with £60 of petrol at a Grays service station and driving off without paying on September 6. He also admitted failing to surrender to bail at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on January 14 and was jailed for 14 days.

Lloyd Ivatt, 39, of Newport Court, Rayleigh, admitted assaulting a woman while he was drunk in Rayleigh on January 25. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in jail, suspended for a year. He was told to pay £100 compensation and an £80 victim surcharge and given a one-year restraining order.

Ty Madden, 23, of Langham Crescent, Billericay, admitted possessing a bread knife in Gatwick View, Billericay, on January 24, while subject to a community order for assault and criminal damage. He was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail, suspended for a year, and must pay an £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Mark Moore, 38, of Woodgrange Drive, Southend, admitted a breach of a court order after failing to comply with the requirements of a suspended sentence issued by Southend Magistrates’ Court on December 20. He failed to attend appointments on January 2 and 9 and was fined £50.
