Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on South Mayne, Pitsea at 6.30pm.

Two crews from Basildon attended a woman trapped in her car and crews used specialist cutting equipment to free her.

Police attended the scene and closed South Mayne causing slow traffic in both directions on the Pitsea Flyover.

The casualty was released with minor injuries and placed in the care of the Ambulance Service by 7.09pm.

The road was reopened at 8.26pm.

Seriously, I've driven past it and I'm surprised that such a serious accident could happen there. It's at the bit where traffic should be at no more than about 25mph as you slow for the roundabout. I wish any innocent party a full and speedy recovery.
