AN RAF rescue helicopter winched two men from mud and flew them to Southend Airport on Tuesday.
The pair had been on the River Medway in Kent, ran their boat aground and had tried to walk back on to land but got stuck.
The rescue chopper was called in after they had been located by the coastguard, just after 6.20pm.
They were taken straight to Southend Hospital after their landing. One of the men was suffering from severe hypothermia, the condition of the other man was not known.
