POLICE have issued an e-fit of a man they would like to speak with following an attempted burglary in the Woodgrange Estate, Southend.

A man attempted to gain access to a first floor flat in Mirror Steps, off Kursaal Way, via the balcony, at about 6.30pm on Saturday, January 25, but was disturbed by the victim.

Investigating officer PC Michael Papaiacovou said: ”The victim heard the suspect trying to get into the flat. He then saw him take two photographs of the inside of the flat through the balcony window. The victim challenged the suspect who then made off.

"Luckily, in this case, no entry was gained and no damage was caused. But I really need people to take a close look at this e-fit and contact police if they recognise the man, to help us prevent any further attempts to burgle homes.”

The suspect is a white man, about 5ft 9ins tall, aged in his late thirties to early forties, and of medium build. He was clean shaven, with short dark hair, shorter at the sides than the top. He was wearing a dark green jacket and dark blue denim jeans, black trainers with a white stripe.

Anyone with information is urged to contact PC Papaiacovou, or his colleagues at Southend CID, on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
