A MAN who was trapped under a one-tonne forklift truck says it’s a miracle he is still alive.

Mylo Browne was put in a medically-induced coma after his accident on Monday last week.

But he is already back home – and can’t wait to get back to work.

Mylo, 23, of Tattersall Gardens, Leigh, was flown to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance after the forklift truck toppled on to him as he collected mussels near the shore in Old Leigh.

His co-workers used a cherry picker to free him and applied CPR as he lay unconscious.

Speaking to the Echo yesterday while recovering at home, he said: “I can’t remember the accident. It’s just a complete blank.

“I got told about it straight away when I woke up in hospital, but it took a while for it to sink in.”

He was told by family members about the actions of work colleagues, including Rob Hudson.

He said: “I couldn’t believe what he’d done. If it wasn’t for him, it could have been a completely different story.

“I was on a lot of morphine when I came round and I was taking 24 tablets a day after that.

“I’ve got two fractures of my shoulder blades, but it could have been so much worse.”

Doctors first thought they would have to wire up his shoulders, but they no longer think that will be necessary.

Earlier this week, Mylo went back to the scene of the accident to see if it would jog his memory about the events.

He said: “It was good seeing all the fishermen, but it didn’t bring anything back.

“It’s still a blank, and a few hours before it are all gone, too.

“That I’m still here is a miracle, like everyone has said. The doctors said I was an inch away from being paralysed for life.”

He added: “I think I can go back to work in about three weeks and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m getting bored.”

MYLO credits his quick recovery to the fitness his active job working on the seafront has given him.

The 23-year-old, who has worked for SMS Seafoods for several years, also said he had been overwhelmed by wellwishers.

He said: “I had more than 1,000 comments and ‘likes’ on Facebook and 50 cards from people by the time I came home.

“Everyone in Old Leigh has been great, it’s really nice. One of the pubs – the Ship – has offered to give me 23 beers – one for each of my birthdays.

“I’ve not been able to have them yet, but I will as soon as I can.”
