A man had to be cut out of his car after a crash in Benfleet.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in High Road just after 4.30pm today after two cars crashed.
Two fire engines from Rayleigh Weir were sent after it was discovered that one of the drivers was trapped.
Crews used specialist cutting equipment to release the injured man by 5.10pm.
He was left in the care of the ambulance service.
Drivers heading through Benfleet were diverted around the scene as the vehicles were recovered.
