Dog walker's cheekbone broken after pet face-off

Southend Standard: Dog walker's cheekbone broken after pet face-off Dog walker's cheekbone broken after pet face-off

A DOG walker suffered a broken cheekbone after his pet was attacked by two boxer dogs.

The victim, in his fifties, was punched in the face by the owner of the two tan-coloured dogs, as he was walking his pet through Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park, off Cherry Orchard Way, in Rochford yesterday.

The victim’s dog and the two dogs owned by the attacker had faced up to each other moments before he was punched.

He was taken to hospital for treatment at around 2pm.

The suspect is thought to be white man, about 6ft tall, of muscular build, with a blue bobble hat, and had a northern accent.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Jack Sneath at Southend CID, on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Lots of aggression between dog walkers nowadays. Of course there would be none if both parties put their dogs on leads the moment they are aware of each other.

There would be no bad behaviour between the respective dogs and no need for punch up or bad language between the owners.

If they did that all they would need to say is "Good morning".

Come on people, start using your brains instead of your bo**ox to think small things out beforehand.

Why only 'thought to be'? I don't know what part of that description the victim can be unsure about. Unless of course he was walking his guide dog.

I agree. we go to this park every day and we have come across this guy who dosnt take any notice of his dogs bad behaviour. They are quite dominent to others and as our dog can be intollerant to that we put him on the lead when we see them. Actually we do that when any unknown dogs approach as its good manners especially if the other dog is on a lead. Hope the injured man recovers quickly. have shared this with other walkers so can be aware.

There are just as many stupid dog owners with Essex and southern accents. Stupid dog owners are not the preserve of the north. I abhor all aggressive and violent behaviour but blaming northerners for it is a bit raw.

Anyway, never mind that, come on lastlaugh, where is your usual "racist" diatribe? You don't like people being pigeonholed do you? Good god, there are good and bad folk in ALL regional and ethnic backgrounds... a few months ago there were a bunch of Essex yobs close to my flat pummelling some poor s0d's face into the pavement.

But does beg the question; when does a body born outside of an area have the right to demand a body born in the area to leave it?

All dogs should be chipped and owners registered. At least that way it may just may create responsible dog owners.

If you can't control your dog then don't let it off the lead! My dog is an amazing ratter and a rescue with a bundle of behaviour issues being worked on so wouldn't even contemplate letting him off. There are a lot of sensible owners who ask if I want their dogs to be leashed as they pass but unfortunately many who think that because you are in walking dog territory that it is perfectly acceptable to let dogs run riot.
My dog was recently attacked by two dogs off their lead and the owner had no control over them at all.
It concerns me also the amount of dogs that go missing on walks or run in front of traffic. Don't let them off the lead so you can have an easy walk if you can't 100 % control your dog. Also please consider dogs who are on leads. This is for a reason!
Lastly I am a northener so we are not all reckless owners who shouldn't invade your shores!
