A SPATE of thefts from vehicles has hit Hockley since the turn of the year.

More than 20 offences, listed below, have been reported to police in the village in only four days this month, with the recorded crimes committed between Sunday, January 5 and Wednesday, January 8.

Police have now released CCTV images, showing two men, in the hope that someone may recognise them and be able to provide information.

Investigating officer, Sgt Ella Hearn, "To have 20 similar offences in such a small area is exceptionally high. I would encourage everyone to take a close look at these CCTV images and call me if they recognise the men pictured.

"I would urge motorists to ensure their vehicles are locked and that nothing is left on display, as in some instances these criminals have broken into a car only to steal loose change.

"I would also urge people to be extremely vigilant. Please call us if you notice any suspicious activity. We would much rather attend and find out that all is in order, than receive a call the following day to say another car has been broken into.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt Hearn at Rayleigh, on 101.
