A CITYJET plane bound for London City Airport from Holland was forced to land at Southend with a problem with one of its wing flaps.

Fire crews from Southend, Leigh and Rayleigh Weir were called as a precaution as the plane made its landing at 12.50pm yesterday.

Passengers were taken to London City Airport by bus.

It is standard procedure for fire crews to stand by if it is believed a plane may have trouble landing.

Only a very minor incident in the scheme of things. Things like this happen every day at airports all over the country.

That is why the airport should never have been expanded so close to residential properties. I have no doubt there will be more like this.

The aircraft would have diverted in to Southend even if it had not expanded as there is more space for it at Southend than LCA.

Aircraft have diverted in to Southend for decades it's nothing new and yes it probably will happen again but lets face facts here the aircraft landed safely no one person was hurt apart from a little brown in their pants and the brown you spit out every time you post your anti-southend anti-jobs bile.

If you don't like it move I'm sure Margate is much more your cup of tea.
