AN MP is urging the Government to step in and move Pitsea’s notorious Felmores bail hostel.

The Ministry of Justice has already said it will relocate the hostel in Pitsea if a new site can be found, but South Basildon and East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe is keeping up the pressure by asking about the issue again in Parliament.

The hostel houses offenders, some of whom are thought to be dangerous, including sex offenders.

When Mr Metcalfe raised the issue in the House again Justice Minister Jeremy Wright confirmed his ministry will foot the bill for the move to a more suitable site, if Basildon Council and the Probation Trust can find one.

Afterwards, Mr Metcalfe said: “I want to reassure my constituents this issue has not been brushed under the carpet.

“If an alternative location is found, I will push that the Justice Department make good on its promise to support the relocation of the bail hostel.”
