THE A13 has reopened in both directions between the M25 and the A1306 Rainham junction following an earlier accident involving three vehicles.
The collision involved a tanker, lorry and a car. No one was trapped but the tanker contained 7,000 litres of aviation gas.
Testing revealed there was no gas leak and fire crews worked to make the vehicles and the scene safe.
Police were called to the eastbound carriage around 9.30am, and urged drivers to avoid the area if possible. Delays in the area are now easing.
