A MAN has been charged with attacking a woman after breaking into her home.
Decebal Bucsa, 23, of North Road, Westcliff, is accused of breaking into a house in Prince Avenue, Westcliff, on July 29, and attacking Gladys Smith and stealing a safe, handbag, gold rings and paperwork of unknown value.
Appearing before Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Bucsa was ordered by District Judge John Woollard to appear before Basildon Crown Court in the week commencing December 30.
Bucsa entered no plea, but the charge may only be heard before a crown court judge. Bucsa was bailed on condition he did not ask the Romanian Embassy to renew his identity card, which is held by police and expires in January, or apply for any international travel documents, or buy airline or ferry tickets.
