A WOMAN has been released without charge following a fatal road crash in Basildon.
The collision happened when a red Mini Cooper struck a pedestrian on Dry Street shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, May 28.
Justin Bowman, a 23-year-old man from Polsteads in Basildon, was taken to hospital after sustaining multiple injuries but died a short time later.
A 24-year-old woman driver from Chelmsford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
She was later bailed pending further enquiries.
Police have now completed their enquiries she has been released without charge.
The police investigation will continue before a file is submitted to HM Coroner.
Mr Bowman’s inquest is likely to be held next year.
