Three businesses broken into in Leigh

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after three businesses in Leigh were burgled on Saturday.

The back door of Subway, in the Broadway, was forced open before two safes containing a four figure sum of cash were stolen.

On the same night, thieves broke into Home Made Bakery, in Broadway West, by smashing a door. The safe was tampered with but nothing was stolen.

The third burglary happened at Birdwood Bakery, in Leigh Road, where entry was gained via the back door. A till drawer containing a three figure sum of cash was stolen.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Siobhan Chapman, or her colleagues at Southend, on 101.

Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
