A MAN who was found collapsed in public toilets in Southend on Friday died shortly afterwards.

Paramedics were called to the toilets off Southend High Street just after 4pm, but were unable to save his life.

A police spokesman said: “Police were alerted by the ambulance service shortly before 4.25pm on Friday that a man had been found collapsed in public toilets at Pitmans Close, Southend.

“Officers attended the scene where paramedics were still working on the man but their efforts were sadly unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

“The deceased man is believed to be aged 49, and officers are still attempting to trace his next of kin. His death is currently being treated as unexplained.”
