BASILDON'S last remaining Blockbuster store will close down in eight days.
The game and DVD rentals store in the Pipps Hill Retail Park is to close down with 61 other outlets countrywide, the firm's administrator's have announced today.
Administrators from Moorfields Corporate Recovery have already overseen the closure of more than 100 stores as part of the administration process since they were drafted in last month.
It is the second time this year the chain has gone into administration.
Today, they said no acceptable offers had been received for the remaining shops.
At the time of the firm's initial collapse last January, it had more than 500 stores in the country.
Over the past year, local stores in Rayleigh, Westcliff, and Billericay all closed.
