Patricia Hurdle, 68, of Church Road, Rawreth, pleaded guilty to speeding. She was caught driving in Southend Road, Shotgate on April 6 at 46mph – the legal limit is 30mph. She was fined £40, given three penalty points and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Lucy Perrin, 29, of Curling Tye, Basildon, admitted two counts of theft. She stole goods worth £38 from Home Bargains and £58 of goods from Hobbycraft in Basildon on September 17. She was ordered to complete a drug dependency programme and to attend probation appointments for a year.
