Farm visit marks 10th anniversary
ONE of the best preschools in the country has celebrated ten years of child care.
Little Achievers Montessori Pre-School looked back on its time during a farm party with current and former pupils.
The school, based at St Mary Magdalene Church hall, Great Burstead, has been rated outstanding in its past two inspections, putting it at the top of the charts for pre-schools.
Owner Mary Ishamel, puts its success down to having loyal staff who put children ahead of profit.
She said: “We have been a team for a long time and are familiar with working with each other. I have been working with children for years and we are all mature ladies.
“There are new initiatives being thrown at us all the time, but we feel comfortable and confident on what we are doing and I think the parents see that.
“The reason we started the school was because we realised providers at the time were in it for profit and it wasn’t for the children any more.
“Parents didn’t want that.
“We think children are very special and they are at the centre of everything we do.”
The school welcomed chickens, goats, geese and sheep to bring its latest project learning about farms to life.
Tracey Scarborough, officer in charge who has been at the school for eight years, said: “It was nice to celebrate all the hard work with a visit from the farm.
“We have been doing a topic about farms, so it was nice for the children to see our lessons in action. They are learning about mothers and babies, chickens and their eggs and produce.
“We have quite an extensive curriculum and we have had outstanding ratings in all areas in both our inspections. It makes us one of the top pre-schools in the country.
“We are still doing our best and our staff are very dedicated, and I think that shows.”
