Leukaemia survivor Sarah wants to raise cash to help fund fight against disease

A LEUKAEMIA survivor and mum-of-three is planning a big night in to help others fight the disease.
Sarah Campling, 39, from Shoebury, is organising the evening with her closest friends as part of Cancer Research UK’s fundraising initiative, called the In Thing.
The campaign asks women to rally their friends together for a night in and donate to the charity the money they would have spent on going out.
Sarah was diagnosed with Leukaemia on Friday, April 13 2007, when her two youngest girls were aged one and two, and went through five months of treatment, including chemotherapy.
She was told the treatment would leave her infertile, but just over a year later, Sarah discovered she was pregnant, and gave birth to a baby girl in 2009.
Sarah has invited friends and family to enjoy a night in with her at her home during November, as part of the campaign.
Sarah said: “Since my diagnosis, several of our friends and family have been told they have cancer.
“This disease affects practically everyone in some way and I feel compelled to do what I can to help.
“Joining The In Thing and having a fun night in with my friends is a great way to do it.
“It’s not often that the girls and I have the chance to get together and be so relaxed, so a night in with no pressure to wear make-up and high heels is great.
“I wouldn’t be here today without Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research and I want everyone to know how important it is.”
Lynn Daly, Cancer Research UK spokeswoman for Essex, said: “Women love a night with the girls, but sometimes need an excuse to get together.
“The In Thing is the perfect reason to round up friends for a welldeserved fun night in and raise money for a great cause at the same time.”
The In Thing party pack provides everything needed to plan the perfect night in, including party planning guides, top tips, and exclusive offers.
