Pier train is so ghoul!
6:00am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in Echo News
DARING families took a spooky ride on the Southend Pier train.
The pier opened after-dark for a Halloween spectacular, including scary stories, fireworks and fancy dress.
Thrillseekers boarded the ghost train to make their way to the Royal Pavilion, formerly the Southend Pier Cultural Centre, and were given a fright by zombies, skeletons and ghouls. The spooky characters were played by drama students from South Essex College.
Staff at the pier cafe donned masks and covered themselves in fake blood to serve Halloween-themed treats.
The annual event ended with a bang as families watched fireworks on the seafront. Suzanne Evans, 35, from Westcliff, took her son Luke, nine. She said: “I was terrified, let alone the kids, but it was really good fun and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
The Ghost Train event, which also takes place on Saturday, sold out weeks ago after tickets went on sale.
