Thug attacks man on mobility scooter in Southchurch Road, Southend

A THUG attacked a man on a mobility scooter in Southend as he tried to rob him.
The 21-year old victim, from Southend, was returning home from Tesco Express in Southchurch Road when he was approached in Hamstel Road.
The suspect remained slightly behind him, demanded money and then when the victim refused punched him a number of times on his head.
The suspect was holding a lighter in his right hand at the time he punched the victim.
Police believe the incident happened about 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 1, but have only just released the information.
The thug ran off when a man jumped out of a van and shouted at him. This caused them to run off towards Southchurch Road.
The suspect was white, aged in his mid to late teens, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall with short blond hair. He was wearing a grey jumper.
A police spokeswoman said: “This was a despicable crime and the suspect should be ashamed of himself.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Southend CID.”
The incident is being investigated as an attempted robbery.
