Lucy to launch her new store
6:00am Thursday 10th October 2013 in Echo News
TOWIE’S Lucy Mecklenburgh will open her new fashion boutique in Southend this weekend.
The 22-year-old will meet fans at Lucy’s Boutique, in the Victoria shopping centre, at 11am on Saturday.
Lucy, who studied at South Essex College, can’t wait. She said: “I’m so excited. I’ve got great memories of being at college in Southend and I can’t wait to meet everyone.”
The former model will sign autographs after the grand opening.
The store will be her second, after her flagshop boutique in Brentwood.
Lucy, who started modelling aged 18, will be flying back for the store’s launch from Las Vegas, where she has been filming a series of Towie specials being aired this month.
Stars of Towie have often set up their own businesses while starring on the show, most of which are in the Towie heartland of Brentwood.
Ricky Rayment coowns Bar Blanco in Rayleigh, and Mick Norcross, owner of the Sugar Hut, in Brentwood, has had planning permission to rejuvenate the Grand Hotel, in Leigh, since 2010, but work there has yet to start.
Amy Childs opened a pop-up store at Eastgate Shopping Centre, in Basildon, in November last year, which left centre managers celebrating after a surge in visitor numbers over the Christmas period.
Dennis Baldry, manager of the Victoria shopping centre, in High Street, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Lucy’s Boutique to the centre.
“Southend is full of style-seekers and we’re sure Lucy will enjoy continued success here.
“The store is looking fantastic and we’re very excited about everyone getting the chance to meet Lucy here on launch day.”
