Traders back airshow plan
SEAFRONT traders have backed plans to bring back the revamped Southend Airshow next September.
Businesses along Southend seafront have given their approval to volunteers bringing back the crowd-pleaser, which was axed by Southend Council to save £130,000.
Volunteers Tom Curtis and John Delaney, who have stepped in to organise the twoday event rebranded as the Southend Airshow and Military Festival, gave a presentation on their progress to a meeting of Southend Seafront Illuminations and Business Association.
Speaking at the meeting, Roger Fisher, of Doodah’s restaurant and takeaway in Marine Parade, Southend, said: “You have done a fantastic job in such a short time.”
