Long delays after two crashes on A127

A PEDESTRIAN is in a serious condition in hospital following a collison on the A127.
The road was shut Southend-bound during this morning’s rush hour as police investigated the accident which happened near the junction with Hovefields Avenue at about 2.30am.
The road was re-opened at 8.30am however there are still long queues back to the Mayflower Retail Park.
It is believed the pedestrian, a 27-year-old man from Basildon, was struck by a mini bus as he tried to cross the road.
He was taken to the Royal London Hospital with serious leg injuries.
There are also queues London-bound after a three-vehicle accident at the Nevendon Interchange at around 7.20am.
The carriageway was closed for about half an hour while police recovered the vehicles but has now been re-opened.
Traffic is currently queueing back to Rayleigh Weir.
Police are still investigating the cause of the first accident and they are urging anyone with information to contact the Laindon Road Policing Unit on 101.
