Wardens to be sent to drug dealing park
7:00am Monday 2nd September 2013 in Echo News
A COUNCILLOR has been told community wardens will be sent to sort out a park which has become a haven for drug dealing and drug taking.
The Echo published shocking pictures on Tuesday, showing drug users’ syringes, foil and spoons in an overgrown area of Mopsies Park, bordering homes in Hockley Green.
It is believed cocaine and heroin are being used in the park, only yards from people’s homes. Disgusted residents have demanded action from Basildon Council claiming, the addicts’ activities are making their lives a misery.
Pat Rackley, councillor for the St Martin’s ward, has received a letter from the council’s antisocial behaviour team, saying it will be investigating the problem.
She added: “I was very disappointed to read in the Echo about the overgrown areas in Mopsies Park, where syringes were found at Hockley Green.
I want the area to be cleared and ‘ checked as soon as possible.”
