Airport parking given top rating

SOUTHEND Airport has retained safer parking awards for all its car parks after tough tests from police and parking experts.
The British Parking Association has presented its Park Mark award to the airport for its three long stay car parks, short stay car park, hotel and staff car parks.
Mike Bibby, area manager for the association, said: “There are still significant changes taking place at the airport which, when completed, will make a great difference for passengers.
“The parking facilities are of a very good standard and well worthy of Park Mark status and I would like to congratulate all personnel involved on the standards we witnessed when completing the assessments.
“Passengers can be confident their personal safety and that of their vehicles is taken very seriously by the airport.”
The airport got full marks after a recent assessment by John Hills, accredited assessor for Essex Police, and Mr Bibby.
David Lister, operations director for the airport, said: “We are delighted the airport has maintained this award, as the safety and security of our passengers and their vehicles is paramount.
“I am hoping this endorsement of our on-site parking facility, along with the fact our car parking prices are still amongst the lowest of all the London airports, will act as an incentive for new travellers to come and try the unique airport experience we are offering here at Southend for the first time.”
Mr Hills said: “Southend Airport is one of our region’s main transport hubs and is undergoing some major new building works.
“Therefore, it’s extremely encouraging the management team here endorse the Park Mark award.”
