Brave Kelly could win holiday after saving mum's life
A BRAVE little girl is in with a chance of winning a dream holiday in the sun for her family after saving her mum’s life.
Kelly King, aged seven, from Sandpiper Lane in Basildon, is through to the final of the nationally-run Little Heroes competition.
She was nominated by a family friend because, since the age of four, she has been coming to the aid of mumRachel Bottomley, 25, who suffers with severe epilepsy.
Last year, Rachel suffered her most violent seizure to date when she collapsed unconscious on the kitchen floor.
But quick-thinking Kelly, a Willows primary school pupil, dialled 999 and followed the instructions given by the operator to keep her mum safe until paramedics turned up.
She also carried her baby sister, Stacie-Louise, who is now two, into the living room to shield her from the epileptic fit until their dad, William King, 27, arrived home.
Kelly’s actions impressed Miss Bottomley’s best friend Caroline Wiseman who entered her into the competition, run by the Fayre and Square pub chain.
The youngster is through to the final and will now go head to head with nine other finalists in a Facebook vote, which could see her family win a family holiday worth £1,000.
Miss Wiseman, 25, said: “She’s such a brave little girl and has been a pillar of support for her mum.”
To vote for Kelly visit, www.facebook.com/fayreandsquare by September 2.
