Charity Cambridge-Southend bike ride called off because of weather

A CHARITY bike ride due to take place tomorrow has been cancelled because of predicted poor weather.

The British Heart Foundation Cambridge to Southend ride was called off after organisers learned about potential freezing conditions.

The annual 75-mile trip was predicted to raise £45,000.

The event will be rescheduled for April 6 and all participants automatically re-registered.

Melanie Blackman, the event organiser, said: “The health and safety of our participants is our paramount concern and the expected conditions would make it impossible for us to guarantee the safety of the cyclists.

“We therefore took the decision to postpone the ride on this occasion.”

The story says the event has been postponed. That means it will still go ahead, but at a later date.

Most sponsorship is done via a "just-giving" type online page, as soon as you 'plrdge' the money is taken. Only the cancellation would see the chance of the money back.
