asbo in a coma, it is a pretty sick thing to make jokes about a fire in a tower block. Innocent people could have lost their homes, or their lives, to say nothing of the risks taken by our brave fire services, who put their lives on the line to help save life and property. I live in one of these tower blocks, and I find your comments quite disgusting. Perhaps you should volunteer to work with some of the disadvantaged of our town, and then you might learn what life is really like for those less fortunate than yourself.

i personally feel southend would only be improved by the levelling of the ghettos on queensway. you want to live in the town centre then pay a market rent. by disadvantaged do you mean those with heroin addictions?

I am not sure that all heroin addicts are disadvantaged, some of them come from the homes of rich MPs and Lords. If you want to deal with addicts, I would suggest that reducing the nicotine addicts would save more lives and produce greater cost savings than limiting yourself to heroin addiction. Incidentally, you might be interested to know that this fire was not caused by a boiler, but by a discarded cigarette butt.

Addicts of different substances also may be "disadvantaged", but I was thinking far wider, to those who may suffer from disabilities, from ill health, from being deprived in some way, or the subject of sexual or racial abuse. There are many in our town who need help and are missing out on material or social welfare through no fault of their own.

As a leaseholder, I paid the market rate for my flat. I do not agree with you that I live in a "ghetto", but I believe many in our country are suffering from the lack of suitable housing. Rents and house prices are too high for the average family in most parts of the country. In Southend there are over 6,000 people on the housing waiting list. Demolishing usable homes is, I think, the last thing you should be suggesting.
