Burglar stole X-Box as present for his son

Richard Green
A PROLIFIC burglar who stole an X-Box from children as a present for his own son has been jailed for more than two years.
Richard Green, 35, of York Road, Southend, was jailed for two years and five months at Basildon Crown Court after admitting ransacking a house in Glenwood Avenue, Westcliff, last month and taking three laptops, the games console and video games.
Grant Benjamin, mitigating, said: "There is a history of drug use, but that's not a contributing factor in this case.
"He was feeling immense pressure not to let down his son again.
"His son's 16th birthday was coming up, so he took the opportunity to break into this house and take the console as a present."
The occupant and her children, who have been left traumatised by the break-in, were out when Green smashed his way in.
A neighbour spotted him lurking around the front of the property and knocking on the door before forcing it.
The neighbour called the police who caught Green red handed with the goods outside in the street.
Green pleaded guilty to burglary.

At 16 years old, it's highly probably his son knows that his a thief so what sort of example is it setting.

I think 2 years is a bit harsh to be fair. Community service would of been more reasonable.

I feel sorry for him.
Maybe we should all have a whip round for *some* of the residents of York Road in the hopes that it stops them having to nick stuff and blame it on their kids high expectations of them.
Alternatively we could just flatten the area and be done with it. I forgot... Southend council only like messing up areas of historic importance as there is no money in them, silly me.

No one will agree to my thoughts but until it happens to you or someone close to you then you might just agree.
