Family burgled while they attend funeral
4:55pm Saturday 16th February 2013 in Echo News
A FAMILY returned from a funeral to discover they had been burgled.
The break-in happened in Roosevelt Road where the crooks forced open a window at the back of the house.
Electrical equipment, jewellery, cash and bags were stolen.
It happened between 9am and 9pm on Friday February 15.
Investigating officer, Det Sgt Alex Gartshore, of Basildon police, said the thieves must have known they were grieving due to the large number of condolence cards at their house.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ds Alex Gartshore on 101, extension 380211 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Burgling a grieving family - almost beyond belief.
Very difficult to not let people know the house is unoccupied for such an occasion; cones outside for the cortege, condolences cards and flowers arriving and obituary/funeral announcements in the press. Sadly all giveaways but ones only the most heartless dregs of humanity would even consider using to advantage.
I hope those responsible reap their just rewards, if not here on Earth then at the hands of a greater authority.......
