MORE than 2,000 people attended the funeral of a Leigh man gunned down on holiday in Honduras.

Crowds of people paid their respects as British national Omer Kaya, 33, of Braemer Crescent, was buried at his family’s hometown of Demre in southern Turkey.

Muggers murdered the popular Rossi Ice-cream seller for his camera in the Central American country last month.

Close friend Emre Kars, 30, of Princes Street, Southend, who acted as Omer’s next of kin in England, said: “It was very sad but also a little bit happy for some people because we finally claimed the body from Honduras and he was buried where he should be – in Turkey.

“Lots of people attended. It was so busy.”

Im from Honduras and is where I live now! I m so angry about this! I didnt know the man, but I think no man's live is less valuable than a **** camera! And since I saw this new in my country there's no day I dont remember this poor man who didnt mean no harm to us and was killed ! I hate my country ! i wish someone will care about us and make us leave in peace! In the name of honest hondurians I say : Please forgive us for this tragedy! We live in this 24/7

Yeah funny country that Honduras (no offence Ricardo) I remember not so long back Wilson Palacios' 14 year old brother was kidnapped & murdered even though they paid the ransom.

I also believe that Honduras has the highest murder rate in the world.
