MORE than 2,000 people attended the funeral of a Leigh man gunned down on holiday in Honduras.
Crowds of people paid their respects as British national Omer Kaya, 33, of Braemer Crescent, was buried at his family’s hometown of Demre in southern Turkey.
Muggers murdered the popular Rossi Ice-cream seller for his camera in the Central American country last month.
Close friend Emre Kars, 30, of Princes Street, Southend, who acted as Omer’s next of kin in England, said: “It was very sad but also a little bit happy for some people because we finally claimed the body from Honduras and he was buried where he should be – in Turkey.
“Lots of people attended. It was so busy.”
