Police close Clifftown Road during disturbance
9:47am Friday 1st February 2013 in Echo News
POLICE, fire and paramedics spent hours at the scene of a disturbance where a man was threatening to jump from a window.
Clifftown Road in Southend was closed at around 1am today when the man tried to climb our of the second floor window.
One witness said: "It wasted a lot of resources with seven police cars, three ambulance cars and two fire engines.
"The man was drunk and abusive to those trying to help him.
"It stopped a lot of people getting back to their homes."
Police eventually talked the man down and the rest of the emergency crews were stood down.

I know that Essex Ambulance Service has poor management and decision makers but THREE.
Maybe the echo would like to ask the Ambulance Service why they decided to send three ambulance cars when it has been shown on many occasions that those in need often have to wait a long time to get one sent out to them.
As for seven police cars... it seems a lot of motorists got away with driving offences during that time.

I have the Echo delivered and read online and I also get the papers from my friends from Newham and from Barking & Dagenham and crime and incidents in Southend than anywhere else. Southend was great in the 50s but now it has to be one of the highest crime area in the uk. 90% of crime news in the Echo is in Southend. Oh my God what type of people live there now ? Give it 10 years and it will be a no go area.
