A WOMAN was left devastated after cruel burglars ransacked her home while her husband was undergoing chemotherapy.

The burglars completely trashed the bedroom of the home in Partridge Green, Pitsea which had become a haven for 63-year-old Dave McCready as he undergoes treatment for bowel cancer.

Now, his wife Sharon said they feel violated and no longer even want to go into the room, which still has the mess left by the burglars strewn all over the floor.

Dave, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in February last year, had been taken by his wife Sharon for chemotherapy treatment at Southend hospital when the crooks struck.

They forced their way into the home and went straight to the couple’s bedroom upstairs.

The callous thieves turfed out every drawer and all of the wardrobes in their hunt for valuables.

The house was left in such a mess Sharon and Dave are still trying to assess exactly what was stolen.

But, among what was taken, was an Amber and gold jewellery set including a necklace, earrings, bracelet and a ring worth £1,700.

Detectives are continuing to probe the break-in, which happened between 11am and 5.20pm on Monday.

Witnesses or anyone with information can contact detectives at Basildon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
