Airline in talks with Southend Airport ceases operations
11:50am Thursday 31st January 2013 in Echo News By David Trayner
An OLT Express plane
AN AIRLINE in talks over flying from Southend Airport to Germany has been grounded.
German budget airline OLT Express, which operated flights to Dresden and Saarbrucken before Christmas and was in talks to offer more flights from the airport this summer, has ceased operations due to a lack of ongoing funding.
Jonathan Rayner, head of busines development for Southend Airport, said: "OLT Express did operate a number of flights from London Southend Airport to Germany over the 2012/13 holiday and festive period, and we have been talks with them about further services from London Southend Airport in summer 2013.
“Unfortunately we now understand that the airline is no longer commercially viable and has ceased flying operations as of Sunday, January 27.”
No Southend Airport customers are believed to be affected by the loss of the airline.

I take it you are aware that this is a financial failure of the airline and it’s failure was not caused by the operating procedures employed at Southend Airport , many airlines grow too quickly for their own good and fail to properly ascertain the financial viability of a route they are operating, it also needs taking into account that if passenger numbers are low it is not necessarily the arrival airport putting people off, the things most people take into account are the cost of the flight and the timings, an lacklustre advertising campaign has been the death knell of several airlines of the decades.

Would you care to elaborate on your comment, as you clearly have something to say on the issue but your comment appears to be a futile attempt at comedy that clearly fails.

A second line of thought is that because he could not find a way to attack the airport for the failure of the airline he commented simply to comment.
Such comments are noted to come from those that lack any real knowledge of the subject relating to the story, so a “quirky” comment is all they can post, they believe in a misguided way that they have more to convey on the subject than they actually do whilst being unable to admit openly that they do not understand the situations that arose to the failure of the airline.

This is not the first time we have had an airline not able to step up to what was promised. For goodness sake try a PROPER airline if you must.
If by proper you mean like British Airways you only have to look back to see the demise of countless other airlines such as Swissair & DanAir or do you class these too as not proper airlines, a little knowledge of the subject will prevent foolish comments.

I do detect an anorak mentality when you can take an 8 word comment and manage to turn it into three paragraphs, and I have contributed to this string with up to date bona-fide information that is well researched, the fact that I may or may not like the airport is only your opinion which you are entitled to the same as you appear to be a complete anorak is my opinion of your good self, I respect your comment I wonder if you are able to respect mine.

I would like to pick you up on getting my name wrong, whilst it is evident that this was a deliberate act on your behalf, this was an immature and Infantile attempt to demean me this was done by you because I had to pick you up on your blatant arrogance of researching facts and your posting of irrelevant comments.

Maxell: To simply cut and paste from Wikipedia is a hardy “well researched” it is the act of a person who has been proven to either ignore researching the facts relevant to the article before posting his/her comments or that they are just too lazy to do so, and only carry out “research” (if cut and paste) can really be called research.

OLT Express Poland (ICOA: YAP) was a Polish charter airline, formally known as Yes Airways. On the 31st July 2012 it suspended all charter services, less than a week after the scheduled sister airline OLT Express Regional cancelled all its services. Stranded customers are to be returned home on LOT servicesAll leased aircraft were repossessed by lessors, and even some wet lease pilots were released back to their employer airlines. It is a sister airline of OLT Express Regional (ICOA: JEA), which filed for bankruptcy on 27 July 2012 after its licence was suspended by the Polish Aviation Authority. for any body that has suffered as a result of cancellations and delay may be able to claim compnsation. http://www.moneysavi
