Billericay pizza restaurant and take-away could stay open until 5am
11:00am Saturday 26th January 2013 in Echo News By Chloe Chapman
RESIDENTS have slammed proposals to extend the opening times of a popular pizza take-away.
Domino's in Billericay High Street has submitted a licensing application to Basildon Council to remain open until 5am every day except Christmas day.
Current restrictions mean that the branch, which is due to open later this month, would be forced to close at 11pm.
Billericay Town Council has already formally opposed the plans, and residents have now raised concerns about youngsters congregating outside the premises resulting in noise disruption and antisocial behaviour.
Maureen Dann, secretary of Billericay District Residents’ Association, said: “The Billericay District Resident’s Association, which represents over 5,000 households in the area, object on behalf of our members on the grounds that it would likely cause a public nuisance as no other similar refreshment establishment in Billericay High Street had a licence beyond 1.30am - and that is for weekends only.”
Vetro Bar faced opposition last year when its management submitted proposals to open until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday nights.
Eventually Basildon Council’s planning committee voted for a compromise, allowing the evening hotspot to open until 1.30am at weekends and 12.45am during the week.
Domino’s insist that the store would mainly be used for home deliveries, although collections would take place.
The take-away is set to feature a seating area allowing customers to eat on the premises.
Basildon Council is set to consider the matter at a licensing hearing later this month.

Remember these shops take presidence over those tenants living above, who must have some how known about the shops, the day they arrived with their collection of black sacks, ready to move in...

And, BTW, nothing in law gives such a shop "precedence" over the people living above.
