Work starts on busy train station's facelift
9:20am Wednesday 16th January 2013 in Echo News By Gina Marden
WORKS to carry out £450,000 of improvements to Basildon station have begun.
The project, which kicked off yesterday , will see the booking hall given a facelift, with new flooring put down to cut the risk of slipping for commuters. The lighting will also be brightened up.
The stairs to the platforms will also be rennovated, with a new tread put on the steps.
Spaces to park bicycles will also be boosted and the station, in Southernhay, Basildon, will be repainted.
Hugh Jennings, C2C’s head of retail, said: “We’re refurbishing Basildon station to create a nicer and more welcoming impression for both regular passengers and visitors to the town.
“This is the latest in a number of improvements on the c2c route, to make sure our facilities are up to the standard that our passengers expect.”

Seems to me like rubberised flooring, new lightbulbs, replace rubber edges on the stairs, few new bike racks, and a coat of paint.
