Alleged rape in Southend town centre found not to have happened

INVESTIGATIONS into an alleged rape in Southend town centre have ceased after no offence was found to have been committed.

A woman, in her late teens to early 20s was found in a distressed state near the main bus station behind the Royals shopping centre, by a passer-by at about 5am on Friday.

Three cordons, in Church Road, Lucy Road, and by the bus station were put in place as officers investigated the area.

The woman was taken to Southend Hospital by ambulance with injuries and she was later interviewed by specialist officers from the Sexual Offences Investigation Team.

Police officers have found no offence took place after the woman admitted she was highly intoxicated and unable to recall exactly what had happened.

DCI Simon Werrett said: "Police take all allegations of sexual assault very seriously and will immediately investigate all the circumstances.

"In this case we have been able to prove that no offence took place and that her injuries were from an incident earlier in the evening."

The echo have deleted all the comments that were on this. Including the one which was from a lady who had been attacked by this 'victim' just before she got 'raped' and this was infact her covering up the fact that she was going to get into trouble for attacking the poor girl. If she was raped the attackers name would be released... she has still lied and wasted police time - she should be prosecuted.

So is this 'person' getting charged with wasting police time? Surely those 'words' were said in order for the police to cordon off the area. This wont help REAL cases.

there is no evidence of rape on the cameras because there was no rape she was with the other 13 girls in talk car park where they attacked a girl who is supposed to be her mate and that IS ALL ON CAMERA

I find this story absolutely disgusting! This so called Woman, if you can call it a woman, has screamed rape and wasted police time just to save her own skin, she has made up a terrible lie to cover the fact she was involved in a monstrous attack on her friend. 13 women attacked this woman’s friend, and this monster joined in, It is all on CCTV. This woman should be prosecuted along with the 13 other animals! These woman should be named and shamed, I hope the police will make a example of these animals!!!!
