An elderly man has been hit by a car in Thorpe Bay.
Emergency services were called to Thorpe Hall Avenue just after 12.30pm after the man was struck near to a zebra crossing.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene but the Herts Air Ambulance was called in.
The road is blocked up to the seafront and there is police tape up at the scene.
The man was airlifted to Queens Hospital in Romford in a life-threatening condition.
One person has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving while unfit.
