HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a young man who fell from the roof of a building and died.

Police are now trawling CCTV to find out exactly what happened to the 26-year-old, named on social networking sites as Kyle Thompson.

He had left Chameleon nightclub at about 3am on Thursday but was found 15 minutes later on the ground outside Clarkes fish and chip shop.

It is believed he had scrambled onto the roof of either the chip shop or the Borough Hotel, on Southend seafront, before falling to his death.

The following day the phrase #RIPKyle was ‘trending’ on social networking site Twitter as friends paid their respects.

A woman called Dannii ‏said: “A friend of mine passed away this morning in a tragic accident! Life Is too short, live life to the full, don't hold back #RIPKyle.”

Amy Louise added: “#RIPKyle sleep sweet angel x” Kaela Dolezel said: “My class is about stress today... how perfect #RIPKyle tonight is going to be so hard.”

Comments were also left on the Echo’s website from friends who described him as a caring guy.

Det Sgt Ian Howitt, of Southend’s serious crime team, said: “There’s nothing suspicious involved, it looks like a tragic accident at the moment. “It’s all been referred to the coroner and there will be an inquest at some point. The post mortem is going to take place probably at the early part of next week.”

It appears that he was on his own at the time, rather than being with any friends from his night out. Police are appealing for any witnesses who might be able to tell them what happened.

An inquest into his death is yet to be opened. Anyone who can help police should call 101.
