Phones and internet down in Bowers Gifford

HUNDREDS of homes have been left without phones and internet in Bowers Gifford.

A spokesman for BT said: "We have suffered malicious cuts to underground cabling in an apparent attempted theft which is affecting some services in the area at the moment.

"We have working to take out the 800 metre damaged section in very difficult conditions. "We will be working shifts around the clock to install replacement cabling, and then to start the process to gradually restore services to those affected.

"We have had 215 reported faults from people affected. It is possible that it will be into early next week before the final faults are cleared."

Awful, isn't it? It is not even a one off mistake. I had a look at her twitter account and she uses "effected" instead of "affected" there too, on several occasions.
Do editors not exist at the echo? Who reads these articles before publication? Maybe they do not bother with the web site side of things. Maybe the editors are also illiterate.
Occassional poor grammar and spelling is excusable in everyday life but not when you purport to be a jounalist.

I made a mere typo that should not pass editorial inspection and is one of the errors that is excused in everyday life. Besides, I do not purport to be a journalist.
However, the journalist concerned is not making a typing error. She is making a schoolgirl error in her command of English that she makes all too frequently.
