Large fire in Aveley engulfes barn
8:27am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Echo News By Melissa Hills
FOUR fire crews were called out to fight a barn fire under electric voltage cables.
The crews from Grays and Orsett were called to Sandy Lane, Aveley just after 8pm on Tuesday following reports a barn measuring 20m by 20m was on fire.
After an hour crews confirmed that acetylene cylinders were involved in the fire and a hazard zone was established.
Firefighters faced difficulty in tackling the fire because it is underneath high voltage cables and the electricity board was called out to isolate the cables.
There was also a very poor supply of water at the scene and the fire engines had to take it in turns to leave the site to replenish their water tanks - has been established.
The crews had put the blaze out by 7.15am this morning but crews remain on stand-by at the scene cooling a cylinder which was involved in the fire.

Also, 7.15am in the morning? It's either am OR in the morning, not both.
Then this paragraph - There was also a very poor supply of water at the scene and the fire engines had to take it in turns to leave the site to replenish their water tanks - should be restructured...
'A poor water supply at the scene also meant engines had to take it in turns to leave the site, in order to replenish their tanks, adding to the time taken to bring the blaze under control' (I added the final bit, I guessed this is what was being alluded to...)
The number of mistakes on the site this week is appalling! I know it's half term but there's no need to emply the toddlers to write for you Echo!
